Try some of these herbs to decrease the amount of NSAIDS that you are taking.  As with any medication or treatment:  Start low and go slow. It can take two to three weeks to see results.

Boswellia:  It is effective as an inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase which is one of the enzymes that converts essential fatty acids to leukotrienes in production of arachidonic acid; therefore, pro inflammatory.  Because Boswellia inhibits this part of the inflammatory cascade, it can be an effective anti-inflammatory agent. Average dose is 400 -1200 mg up to three times a day.  

Ginger: Usually known for the treatment of nausea and dyspepsia, it can also be beneficial in arthritis. It is frequently combined with other herbs. It can be used as a dry herb (2-4gms/day) or as an extract (1/4 to 1 ml up to three times a day.

Turmeric:  The primary active ingredient is cir cumin which has been developed as an extract. Turmeric and cir cumin is a powerful antioxidant and has been shown to be quite beneficial in osteoarthritis. Also irritable bowel syndrome. It should be taken with a meal that contains pepper to assist with absorption of the active ingredients.  The average dose is about 400-600mg three times a day.

Ashwaganda: It is an adaptogen. It is helpful in combination with other agents to treat pain from inflammation. It also has good anti anxiety effects. Doses of 3-6 gms per day of the dried root or 5 ml’s three times a day.

Love is what we were born with.  Fear is what we learned here.  The spiritual journey is the relinquishment, or unlearning, of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts.  Love is the essential existential fact.  It is our ultimate reality and our purpose on earth.  To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life.
